Glavé & Holmes Architecture is pleased to welcome Susan Reed, AIA, as a new Associate for the firm.

Susan joins Glavé & Holmes’ Higher Education Studio, bringing her wealth of experience with historic preservation to support our renovations of older buildings and new work in historic settings. With over two decades of experience, Susan earned her Master of Architecture with a Certificate in Historic Preservation and her Bachelor of Art History with a Minor in Architectural History from the University of Virginia. She is currently a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is the Chair of the City of Richmond Public Art Commission.

Before joining Glavé & Holmes, Susan worked at Commonwealth Architects for 17 years where she served as Project Manager and Lead Architect on a variety of preservation projects.  Prior to that, she worked as a CAD Technician at McCall Design Group in San Francisco. She has served in all areas of the practice from marketing to construction and is a licensed Architect.  Susan has worked on high-profile projects including the Masonic Theatre in Clifton Forge, the Maury House at Virginia Military Institute, the Executive Mansion, and the Virginia State Capital.

“Susan is a valuable addition to our firm and will help us to expand our historic preservation services to higher education clients,” Lori Garrett, Director of the Higher Education Studio, said. “We are excited about the opportunity to reinforce our expertise and pursue more of these types of projects.”
