Glavé & Holmes Architecture congratulates Lori Snyder Garrett, AIA, LEED Green Associate, for being selected to receive the prestigious Award for Distinguished Achievement from the Virginia Society AIA.
The Virginia Society AIA honors architects with the Award for Distinguished Achievement based on especially noteworthy achievement in design, practice, education, service as “citizen architect,” or service to the profession. Garrett’s excellence, creativity, and initiative within the design industry merited her recognition as one of two architects to be honored with the award at the Annual Meeting of the Membership and Visions for Architecture gala in November.
Lori Garrett continues to develop a portfolio of award-winning work as Senior Principal and Director of Higher Education at Glavé & Holmes Architecture. Demonstrating leadership in the AIA, she has promoted the aesthetic and practical efficiency of the profession; coordinated the building industry and the profession of architecture; and advanced the profession’s service to both its members and society at large. Lori encourages those who are underrepresented in the industry by mentoring emerging professionals and supporting women and minorities.
Noted accomplishments include forming Richmond Women in Design, initiating the creation of the Virginia Emerging Professionals Knowledge Community, and promoting an industry sponsorship plan to recruit allied members to the Virginia Society AIA. For nearly three decades, Lori has actively assisted women within the design professions in achieving their full leadership potential and provided valuable services to improve the quality of life for others in her community.
